SH23

You can choose between a guillotine cutting or saw cutting mechanism for your SH23 stroke harvester. A grapple equipped with a guillotine system can also be made to include a separately available splitting blade, allowing you to make firewood.

SH23 – an affordable and easy to use stroke harvester for a tractor
The SH23 stroke harvester is light and simple to use, but will surprise you with its efficiency. This harvester works with an up to 40 l/min oil flow, which means no additional hydraulics are needed for your tractor or excavator, and you can attach the harvester without additional hoses.

Easy mobility with the loading grapple valve
SH23 is installed in place of the loading grapple, and there is no need for additional buttons, cables or hoses. All movements are performed using the loading grapple valve. The harvester has a mechanical tilt, which is locked using the stroke feature in the uppermost position. Trees fall down with their own weight once the tilt is released by driving in the stroke feature slightly inward. You can cut pulpwood or firewood of any length you want.

The back and forth trimming movement is performed by changing the valve direction, and sequence valves automatically perform delimbing blade and grip presses. The guillotine mechanism cuts through a tree after the stroke feature has reached its maximum outward position and as pressure increases. Similarly, the delimbing blades and grips open fully when the stroke is driven in and pressure increases.

SH23 stroke harvester with a saw cutting mechanism

Features
  • felling and trimming
  • weighs only 235 kg
  • easy to install, no additional hydraulics or electricity
  • quick saw cutting mechanism, 30 cm
  • operates with an open/close valve in the grapple

Suitable for

  • first thinning
  • cutting log wood
  • cutting hardwood
  • cutting energy wood
  • SH23 -integrated harvesting

SH23 – and electricity-free stroke harvester with a quick saw cutting mechanism
The stroke harvester is now also available with a quick saw cutting mechanism. The saw is well-suited to cutting hardwood, and can chop up wood up to 30 cm in diameter. SH23 with a saw cutting mechanism weighs only 235 kg, and the installation requires no additional hydraulics or electricity. The saw mechanism can be retrofitted in place of a guillotine system.

Automated features with pressure-controlled valves
The stroke harvester operates without electricity based on a sequence hydraulic mechanism. You can close the delimbing blades and grippers with the grapple’s open/close button. As pressure increases, the pressure-controlled valves guide the pressure to the stroke input and then to the saw mechanism. If the button opening the grapple is pressed before the blade has cut though the timber, the stroke input will retract the delimbing blades, and the blades will pull the tree trunk with them. Perform the amount of 0.5-meter delimbing motions you like, after which the trunk is cut. For instance, you need to perform six delimbing movements to delimb a three-metre tree trunk.

Tilt with friction locking
Gravity keeps the stroke harvester in the upright position. When you grab a standing tree and pressure rises, the delimbing head starts to move. The head presses against the tilt body and locks against it firmly. Once pressure builds to a sufficiently high level, the saw mechanism performs the cutting action. After cutting you can turn the chopping head to the delimbing position with the grapple open/close button. The stroke mechanism is retrieved, and the weight of the body tilts the chopping head to a horizontal position.

Easy installation also to excavators
It is easy to attach the stroke harvester to a loading crane to the place of a loading grapple on an agricultural tractor. You can also effortlessly attach it to an excavator – we deliver a ready-to-use extension book kit, which includes a 1.5 m extension boom with a support leg, a quick coupler for the boom, rotator, link and all required valves and hoses. Only one two-way valve is needed for control.

SH23 wood processor

Turn trees into firewood and put them straight into a sack with the SH23’s chopping mechanism
Use wedges to turn your SH23 stroke harvester into a handy wood processor that turns standing trees into firewood. The guillotine blade is strong, steady and easy to maintain. The cutting blade can be mounted with splitting wedges to make 25–50 cm firewood directly after cutting down the tree. The wedges are easy to install and remove using three bolts. A handy sack holder attached to the tractor enables you to turn standing trees into firewood that you put straight to the sack. This allows you to eliminate unnecessary intermediate stages from the firewood production chain. A work efficiency test by TTS measured that the productivity of the grapple was 3.0–5.5 loose cubic metres per hour.

Harvester accessories

Wireless measurement device

Features

  • easy to use and affordable
  • measuring length with a measurement wheel, automatic delimbing and cut-to-length feature
  • determining length on mobile phone or tablet using Bluetooth
  • width measurement feature sold as an accessory
  • fits the SH23 harvester with the guillotine or saw cutting mechanism

Cut-to-length logs

The measuring device increases the potential applications for FARMI stroke harvesters. In addition to energy wood, pulpwood and firewood logs, the harvester can now also be used for cut-to-length sawlogs.

The measuring device measures the length of the wood and automatically cuts it in the length you have chosen. Cutting length can be set easily with a tablet or a mobile phone. The tablet or phone will serve as the display for the measuring device; the device itself has been installed on the harvester head. A width measurement sensor is sold as a separate accessory.

Thanks to the Bluetooth connection, there is no need for any additional cables from the boom to the stroke harvester.

The delivery of the FARMI measuring device includes

  • 7″ Android tablet computer
  • direction control valve
  • steel case for the measuring device
  • limit sensors for delimbing
  • sensor for cutting
  • two batteries and a charger

The measuring device can also be retrofitted.
